FLORENCE SENIOR CENTER, Florence, Oregon

HGE was retained by the City of Florence to develop schematic designs and cost estimates for a new Senior Center building at the Singing Pines Park in Florence. The schematic designs and cost estimates were developed to form part of the City’s application for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Oregon Business Development Department (OBDD), which was granted. The facility includes a kitchen, a multi-purpose room, several offices, and an Alzheimer meeting room. Completion: May 2010; Cost: $862K.

NEWPORT SENIOR CENTER REMODEL, Newport, Oregon

We are very familiar with City of Newport and Lincoln County permitting procedures and regulations. HGE was retained by the Friends of the Newport Senior Center and the City of Newport to develop schematic designs and cost estimates for a remodel and addition to the City’s existing Senior Center building. After funding was approved, HGE was awarded to perform full architectural services for the remodel/addition, which added a lower floor entry and remodeled a 1,700 sq. ft. crawl space into a multipurpose area with restrooms and other amenities. The project was funded by a Community Development Block Grant administered by OBDD. Completion: June 2011; Cost: $600K.

NORTH BEND SENIOR CENTER, North Bend, Oregon

Joe Slack was in charge of this project while connected with another firm. The team included the City of North Bend and local senior citizens. The facility was specifically designed for senior citizens and people with disabilities, and included a large meeting room, small classrooms, workshop, offices, kitchen and kitchenette storage, laundry, and thrift shop. Special features included generous site access with minimal elevation changes, fully accessible equipment and restrooms, radiant heat in small workrooms, and a large, flexible gathering space suitable for various functions. Completion: 1993; Cost: $400K.
